What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a web-based interface where you can communicate with their Generative - Pre-Trained Model. ChatGPT can currently help you produce texts by typing a prompt to it.
What is a prompt?
In simple terms, a prompt is a text or query that you enter in a search field. This can be thought of as a command you give to the GPT model to start searching its gigantic database.
How do I create a prompt?
Creating a prompt is as simple as writing a text or a word, when you write a request to an AI you can use e.g. "I want you to:" or "Can you write a" or "Can you create:". So a very simple example of a prompt could be.
"Can you write a text about ChatGPT and how important it is for marketers to learn prompts in order to be more efficient and productive, I want you to write in a convincing way considering that I have to explain to my boss the benefits this has for our company".
What is a good prompt?
There are many who have divided opinions, but after working with the prompt for ChatGPT for over 1000 hours, I would say the following.
A Prompt needs to contain 4 essential parts to give the AI model the right conditions to understand its purpose and your goal.
These parts are as follows:
- What role should it have?
- Where does the scene take place?
- What do you want to get out of the AI?
- What should the tone of the answer be?
An example:
"I want you to behave like a marketing specialist who is currently sitting in a creative meeting and coming up with new ideas for a strategy for a new launch. I want you to come up with 10 new ideas on how we can work with our digital marketing on TikTok and Instagram. I want you to write in a creative and engaging way. "
Example of a simple prompt
Well here you can make it as simple as possible, anything that is a word automatically becomes a prompt. For example, "Hello" is a prompt. Which to 78% will give you the answer -"Hello! Do you have any questions or concerns I can help you with today? and 22% "-Hey, how can I help you today?".
Example of a difficult prompt
There is a difference between a difficult prompt and a good prompt, a difficult prompt is a prompt that is demanding to write and takes a lot of your time. It can be a so-called super prompt, which you can read more about further down on this page. But also prompts that contain a lot of text and several commands in the same prompt.
I always recommend in my courses, worskhops and trainings that you start from the parts that are included in a good prompt, but then add interesting information about your company, product or service. This is important for the AI model to create texts that are somehow optimized for you and not too general.
What is a super prompt?
Superprompts are a fairly new concept in the AI world where you develop your request or command to e.g. ChatGPT to give the computer as much information as possible, a superprompt can e.g. contain the following parts:
Objective: To help individuals develop their problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging way.
Target audience: Students, especially those interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects.
Main themes or topics: Innovation, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving.
Limitations: No specific limitations.
Desired format: A storytelling exercise.
Here is an example of a super prompt:
Imagine you are an astronaut on a mission to explore a distant planet. When you land on the planet's surface, you realize that your spaceship has been damaged and you cannot leave the planet without repairing it.
Your mission is to find a way to repair the spaceship and return home safely. But the planet is full of unknown creatures and obstacles that can hinder your progress. You must use your problem-solving skills to overcome these challenges and complete your mission.
Think about how you would approach this situation. What steps would you take to repair the spaceship? How would you navigate the planet's terrain and avoid danger? What resources do you have at your disposal? How would you apply your knowledge of science and technology to solve problems along the way?
Write a short story or create a visual representation of your journey on the planet.
